Dr. Jason Dyken
My name is Jason Dyken and I am running for Gulf Shores City Council Place 4. I am a medical doctor that practiced in Gulf Shores. When I first started my practice, we only had two doctors, we didn’t have an urgent care center, and in fact we worked out of a trailer. Many of you may remember my nurse affectionately referring to me as the “Doctor of the Doublewide”. Eventually we completed construction of a permanent building on West Second Street in Gulf Shores and I had the honor and pleasure of practicing internal medicine in this community.
In 2001 I made the difficult decision to leave the practice of internal medicine to spend more time with my growing family. This was an extremely difficult decision for me as I had worked my whole life to become a doctor; however, it was the right decision. As I was practicing my “Mr. Mom” skills, a business opportunity presented itself to me and I began a financial planning firm. This opportunity worked well for me because it allowed me the flexibility to continue to be with my family and the fact that I had previously earned a Masters of Business Administration from UAB. I have worked since that time as operator and owner of an independent financial planning firm in Gulf Shores.
I love Gulf Shores and this city is very important to me. I am married and my wife and I both own businesses in Gulf Shores. I have 4 children and have chosen to live in Gulf Shores to raise my family. I am running for city council because I want to make a positive difference in this community. I want to be able to maintain the unique quality of life that we have in Gulf Shores. I want my kids and their kids to have the same wonderful opportunity that we have had to raise a family in a community that is family oriented, community focused, and has such natural beauty. I want to protect this city for my parents. I believe the goals that are important to me and my family are also shared by many in Gulf Shores.
I am willing and able to serve the people of Gulf Shores and will do so with honesty and integrity. I am running for City Council Place Four and I would appreciate your vote. Thank you.
